Christmas Cactus
About 11 years ago, a student named Haley gave me this cactus. I put it in my window and now it blooms. Just like her.

It sounded like a good idea...
Okay....it sounded like a good idea.
John and I volunteered and got trained to man the police department watch tower. I got the radio and the key from the police station. I got into the watch tower. I did my hour long shift. AND then I found out I was locked in the tower. I had to call for assistance and two police cars came to unlock me. I quickly and quietly removed my name from the volunteer list.

Chirstmas medallion
Went to a fabulous class on paper medallions
at the Craft Scrapper and learned how to do this.
It is so easy.
So last weekend, I got all the Christmas junk
that has been on my desk and hot glued it all down.
I gave it as a Christmas present.
I have stuff to make a baby one for the many baby showers I attend.

teaching a second generation
This is my 16th year teaching and this is my former student, Michelle and her son.
Can you believe I am teaching another generation?
Santa Cop
Sometimes I get focused on his flaws--but here is John helping carry out toys at Santa Cop.
This is his SEVENTH year to volunteer. I love you!

My Mom is so proud!
So some times the holidays get so busy and crazy and life just happens and I just don't have time to put up my Christmas tree and decorations but not this year...And my Mom is so proud and happy.
Bought a new tree. Yes, It is smaller but it is prelit and has the branches that are hinged. Yes, I know there are no ornaments but this is a start, right? Now to go threw my three tubs of ornaments. |
Notice the three stockings; John, Jana, and Baby Campy. |
Mrs. Quinius's Angels. I bought one every year. I am so sorry she is not with us anymore. I guess she stopped making angels and turned into one. |
By the front door... |
Found this Santa at a Craft Fair. If you look close you can see where Baby Campy chewed a hole. |
Love the table with the Santas on it. |

Martin Bible.
In 1966, Ray and Lucy Martin gave Steve and Sue Martin a bible for Christmas. And here is the letter that went with it.
May a Mother and Father's blessing go with this Bible
wherever it may find a home;
be it a shanty or a palace.
May the walls of this home enfold happiness,
love, and little childres' laughter.
May it record many happy events,
large and small
and only the ending of fully lived lives.
All our love and blessings,
Mom and Dad Dec. 25, 1966.

Huge Weekend...
I had a great weekend and it isn't over yet. But I made a choice. Mimi asked me to fly with her to Rio de Janerio. I thought about it but the tickets looked good going but not coming back. I wanted to go but I knew that my heart would be with all the things I missed. And now I know I made the right decision....
Thursday night, was a fundraiser for Arlington Life Shelter-A Home for the Holidays. The cookie sale raised over $2,000. WOW!
So Friday night, I helped host the school office party. Wow! We had thirty people there and they all played Wacky Santa. It is so much fun to love the people at your work place.
On Saturday, I drove down to Waxahachie and made a paper medallion. I can't believe how beautiful and easy this creation is. I know there are lots in my future for all the holidays. Thanks Crafty Scrapper.
Then off to HRBC and their production of It's a Wonderful life. The dinner was so good a full of carbs that I slept during the second half. I blamed it on the meal but it might have been the cheese cake.
Now off to volunteer at the mall, (No shopping involved here), dinner with friends, and the big BCS announcement. Go Frogs!

My Favorite Veteran
ALL GAVE SOME,
SOME GAVE ALL
My favorite veteran is my father.
He fought on the USS Iwa Jima during Vietnam.
At school we do a huge Veteran's Day celebration and program and we got all the students and staff to fill out the cards for their family members that served in the military.
See mine above.
Thanks DAD!

the artist...
1.Why do you scrapbook and how would you describe your scrapbook style?
I scrapbook because I am convinced that as I age I will loose my memories. So my scrapbooking is my memory keeper. I would describe my style is funky junky vintage.

2.How long have you been scrapbooking?
I have loved paper and stickers for as long as I can remember. I think it all started with scratch and sniff stickers in the 4th grade.

November Art
I was so tired on Wednesday night...I picked up Campy and went home and took a nap. But afterwards, I drove to the shelter and taught an art class. Since it is November--The Month of Thankfulness, we made thank you cards.
using chip board as a stencil |
We use Elmer's glue. |
My favorite couple. They exchanged thank you cards. |

Globes
Saw this art piece in Waxahachie. Love it so I found me some globes destined for the trash can. You have no idea how hard it is to bust them open. I chiseled. I drilled. I cut. But the best way is to bounce it on the ground like a basketball.
I have a trunk full of them. I just hope John doesn't find them.

Vina's 30th birthday
I started this at Artistic Journey and broke apart the album. This page of the album has Ten Second Studio metal on it and then I put a bible verse on it. I hate looking at my own handwriting but knew it would make it more meaningful to her. Vina has it hanging by her desk in her classroom. Love her!

Love junk sales
Yes...I love junk sales. estate sales, garage sales, yard sales, etc. I love to find old things that other people think are trash but they turn into my treasures. So I was so happy when my mother invited me home to Waco for Vintage Christmas. I am so excited and we have matching shirts to wear. Green with reindeer. And did I mention that I am going to Holiday Magic on Friday with work friends. I am sooooooooooooooo looking forward to this weekend.
