I don't think she likes her outfit.

Marissa's Wedding gift

So I found an old silverish platter at an estate sale.  I brought it home and printed out my photo in black and white.  Then I went to my scrap pile and found all sorts of black and white pager.  Glued all the paper on it and then looked for special stuff such as flowers and pins.  Then I found some vintage lace and cut the small individual flowers and glued the beads in the center.  I hear she loved it.  And I had so much fun making it.

The silver plate finished.

Look at the little lace flower and then the pearl glued on it.

The original photo.

Princess Fionna

Morton Elementary has a chili cook off every year.  And this year our theme was Shrek.  The green paint was so messy.

Clock parts

I love going to estate and junk sales.  It seems that watch parts are a "hot item."

Love Tim Holtz!

I found this on Tim Holtz' web site.  Yes, I read his blog almost everyday.  Yes, I have a huge crush on him.  Yes, I would call for hours just to get in his art class.  Yes, I would drive over an hour each way just to go to his class.  Yes, I am addicted!

A Teacher...

After being interviewed by the school administration, the prospective teacher said:

'Let me see if I've got this right.'

'You want me to go into that room with all those kids, correct their disruptive behavior, observe them for signs of abuse, monitor their dress habits, censor their T-shirt messages, and instill in them a love for learning.'

'You want me to check their backpacks for weapons, wage war on drugs and sexually transmitted diseases, and raise their sense of self esteem and personal pride.'

'You want me to teach them patriotism and good citizenship, sportsmanship and fair play, and how to register to vote, balance a checkbook, and apply for a job.'

'You want me to check their heads for lice, recognize signs of antisocial behavior, and make sure that they all pass the final exams.'

'You also want me to provide them with an equal education regardless of their handicaps, and communicate regularly with their parents in English, Spanish or any other language, by letter, telephone, newsletter, and report card.'

'You want me to do all this with a piece of chalk, a blackboard, a bulletin board, a few books, a big smile, and a starting salary that qualifies me for food stamps.'

'You want me to do all this and then you tell me .... I CAN'T PRAY?

Snorkeling

I don't like my head under water so it was such a surprise that I love to snorkel.  John holds my hand and off we go.  This is one of my favorite photos.

Cookie dough

So John and I sold 17 tubs of cookie dough.  And then I got to go in the money machine.  I gathered $23.  So now the order form is due and I can't find it.  What am I going to do?

Royal Campy

Lore has it that a papillon dog hid under Marie Antoinette's skirt as she was beheaded.  This photo proves that my baby is a descendant of royalty.

Sears Tower

Here we are on the 143rd floor of the Sears Tower.  The elevator took about a minute to get up to the top and then there were three sky walkways.  You could walk out on a clear glass balcany.  It sure did mess with your mind. Afterward we went and ate Chicago style pizza.

So I should be packing and not blogging, crafting, or watching football but instead....off to Chicago.  Home of Oprah and Lucy Martin (the original Mrs. Martin).

Artistic Journey 2010

Artistic Journey 2010

So I just finished the best weekend ever and it went something like this:

Thursday Night: page swap in Keller at Little Blue House...

Friday: took the day off from work and told them not to call me unless the school was on fire and to call 911 first, hair cut and colored, checked into bed and breakfast, checked into Artistic Journey and made a name tag and a make and take.   John and Campy came to spend the night with me at the bed a breakfast.

Saturday: woke up and ate the beast breakfast ever, two scrapbook classes, lost 20 dollars on the OU/Texas game, late afternoon nap, Mexican food for dinner, hot bath in a claw foot bathtub.

Sunday: another wonderful breakfast, one more scrapbooking class, quick trip to Walmart, drive home, late afternoon nap and now Sunday blues....

I can't say enough great things about this weekend.  I hope it becomes and annual event and it so rejuvenated my soul.

Here I am in a class working on Saturday morning.

My yummy lunch that was delivered to me!

My goodie bag that must be worth close to $100.  I stayed up late Friday night just looking at it all.
