I love it here...
Love these cacti especially at sunrise (John took the photo--I was in bed)

Cacti taken by John at sunrise on his 4 mile hike

I can't wait to draw this tree

This is one of the views...I'll take one from our patio.

John took this from the top of his hike...

This is my dream doll.  I found her at an art gallery.  Isn't she great?
I hung her in my closet so I can see her all the time.  What do you think?

Vintage angels (set of three)

vintage elves (set of two)

I got a bag of these mini-frames (set of 10).
I can't wait to put scrapbook paper in them and hang them.  They will look great.

The mayonnaise jar and two beers

Saw this on Facebook and had to share:
The mayonnaise jar and two beers...

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and the 2 Beers.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar he shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two Beers from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things---your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car.

The sand is everything else---the small stuff. 'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

'Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.. Spend time with your children. Spend time with your parents. Visit with grandparents. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the Beer represented. The professor smiled and said, 'I'm glad you asked.' The Beer just shows you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of Beers with a friend.

wORDS OF wISDOM

LAUGH WHEN YOU CAN,
APOLOGIZE WHEN YOU SHOULD,
AND LET GO OF WHAT YOU CAN'T CHANGE,
 KISS SLOWLY,
FORGIVE QUICK,
PLAY HARD,
TAKE CHANCES,
 GIVE EVERYTHING,
AND HAVE NO REGRETS,
LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO BE ANYTHING BUT HAPPY.

Tag crazy

So time is precious and I have just had only little bits of time to sneak away into my art room.  But here are my tags:
Birds of feather-flock together.  I mailed this one to my parents.

Art Angel-I gave this one to a school friend who does not scrapbook anymore.
I hope this inspires her to art.  Also, I saw it hung up by her desk the other day.

Caged Self; yep, sometimes I feel like a caged animal but only sometimes.

Embrace Imperfection.  I gave this to a school friend and hope that she follows the tag.
I keep reminding her that life is a marathon and not a sprint.

Art class Kat

One of my favorite things to do at school is to go into the art room.  Our art teacher is amazing and this was her project with some wild second graders.  I joined in and made my own KAT.

Artsistic Journey 2011 projects

This canvas class was so much fun.  The canvas binder looks even better in real life.

This was my make and take from Artistic Journey.
The ladies put out all the items and just let us go wild.
I promise I did not shove anyone to get to a specific item.  Promise!

Love this project but it was just too detailed for me and mine ended up like a mess of glitter...but I had fun anyway.

My favorite Artistic Journey class, we just stamped and sprayed and did our own thing.  It was heaven.
